Steel toe boot – not just for men at work
Most of us won’t need a steel toe boot in our line of work, although there is something to be said for having such protection in any job. There are many hazardous workplaces and even some that on the face of it don’t appear hazardous. A steel toe boot can easily protect against any kind of danger. Many hospital workers prefer a steel toe boot or shoe, just because of the extra protection offered. Anyone who is on their feet all day appreciates any additional safety for their feet. After all, if you need to be on your feet at work then your feet help in your livelihood.
There are many places of work where you will not be allowed access without a specific steel toe boot or other safety boot. There is good reason for that, employers want to protect their employees and guard themselves against lawsuits being brought for not insisting or providing ‘fit for purpose’ footwear. Protecting our feet at any time is important but it is arguably more important to protect your feet in your work environment. There are specific regulations that give standards for any steel toe boot and if your work does expect you to wear boots to regulation then you would do well to adhere to any such request.
Imagine a heavy object dropped onto your feet, without the protection that a steel toe boot can give you. You could find yourself in real agony. Any Foot Injury takes longer to heal. We can’t rest them completely as we normally have some movement to do throughout our day. Time off work for a foot injury due to the wrong footwear is time that is not well spent. We do tend to abuse our feet and really, we should do exactly the opposite and give them regular TLC.
Therefore, what other areas would a steel toe boot be useful? Anyone who has dropped a hammer on his or her foot while fixing up the house will tell you of the need for a steel toe boot. It’s not just the steel toe itself that’s important, the boot needs to have sturdy robust uppers as well as good support for your ankle and arch. There are many people who spend time in the outdoors and they will also tell you of the many hazards their feet encounter whilst out there in the wilds. The average person on the street would probably have use for a steel toe boot in their wardrobe.
Now you may be thinking it’s possible you want a steel toe boot. But think they are going to be ugly, functional footwear that your really don’t want to be seen out in. A quick look online will show you that the types and styles of steel toe boots are endless. They come in all colors and although they are protective footwear they just look like a quality boot you could go hiking or walking in.
